It's that time of year...the end of summer...one week of vacation at Holden Beach, North Carolina and then back to school! On Friday, we'll be driving north for our tenth year at Holden Beach and it's hard to believe that Jonah was just a year old the first time we went! It's such a beautiful place with nothing to do but enjoy the secluded sandy beaches and listen to the surf...and so worth the eight hour drive! We've seen some changes there over the years, but for the most part, it's still the same. When we first started going, we were looking for a place that we could back to year after year and make some special family memories...Holden Beach has done just that! We've met new friends there and even got a few old friends from MD hooked on it as well! This will probaby be our last time going there since it's an almost eleven hour drive from Florida and we have so many amazing beaches here...but a part of me is really sad to say goodbye. Those beaches saw our children grow from newborns to adolescents and elementary school kids to adults...I think they all cherish the memories there too, at least I hope so, that was the plan...

Hi Steph! First I love your new layout. It is so fresh and cheerful. Also, I worked with a woman a million years ago that vacationed at Holden Beach. They, too loved it. I haven't been as I told you we go to the Outer Banks. Maybe someday though! I hope you have a great time!
We almost went to Holden Beach this year and guess when we would've left?!?! THIS SATURDAY. Aw, man!! That would've been so cool!!!
Debbie,
Holden Beach is a lot less expensive than Outer Banks but there is also a lot less to do! We're ok with that but I know some people love staying busy...Myrtle Beach is about 45 minutes away though.
jenn,
that would have been totally crazy if we saw you there!
We have some great memories of Holden Beach with the Ferbers too! We wish we could be there with you this year too! Have fun at the Christmas Shop. And stop talking about retirement. We aren't THAT old yet! :-)
